Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre voted number one in the world! (July 2016)

It is official – Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has been named as the World’s Best Convention Centre! The announcement was made at the Annual General Assembly of the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) in Nantes, France.

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre will host the 10th International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria 2016 in September 2016.

ICTMM 2016 official launch a success! (April 2016)

On Friday 15 April 2016 The Honorable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO officially launched the 19th International Congress on Tropical Medicine and Malaria 2016 at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art hosted by Professor Cheryl Jones, President of the Australian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) and Professor David Emery, President of the Australian Society for Parasitology along with Associate Professor Helen Evans, Advisory Council, Pacific Friends of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

By invitation only guests were invited to come along and enjoy a breakfast buffet over looking the spectacular Brisbane river and city whilst listening to leading industry experts discuss the importance and significance of the congress.

The expert panel moderated by Dr Norman Swan, Host, ABC RN Health Report consisted of Professor Maxine Whittaker, Professor James McCarthy, Associate Professor (Hon) Helen Evans, Dr Ben Rolfe and Professor Sharon Lewin.

With only a few more months to go Brisbane is getting very excited about hosting leading experts in September 2016.


 

ICTMM 2016 at ASTMH 2015 (October 2015)

Members of the Management Committee recently represented the International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria 2016 at the ASMTH 2015 Annual Meeting held in Philadelphia, USA from 25 – 29 October 2015. The most popular and colourful stand of the meeting, Committee Members were onsite to talk to all delegates about the Congress and hand-out postcards, promotional band-aids and clip-on koalas. We hope you got the chance to speak with one of our Committee Members in attendance, which included Dr Malcolm Jones, Associate Professor David Looke, Professor Denise Doolan, Professor James McCarthy and Associate Professor Kathy Andrews.

 We would also like to congratulate all the winners of our booth competitions!

 Word of ICTMM 2016 travels abroad (September 2015)

Associate Professor Kathy Andrews of the ICTMM 2016 Management Committee recently attended the 2016 European Congress of Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH) in Basel, Switzerland to promote the ICTMM 2016.

Amongst ECTMIH delegates was ICTMM 2016 keynote speaker Professor John Reeder. Professor Reeder is Director of TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, at the World Health Organization in Geneva. He maintains research interests in malaria and other agents of global health significance, such as tuberculosis, NTDs and HIV. Keep an eye out for the ICTMM 2016 banner at upcoming events, including at the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (ASTMH) 2015 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia from 25 – 29 October 2015. Come visit us on stand 513 for information on the Congress and a clip-on koala!

Call for Workshops (July 2015)

The ICTMM 2016 Scientific Program Committee invites submissions for workshop proposals.  Workshops should seek to facilitate and engage discussion with the participants, and may be conducted by individuals or a small group. Workshop proposals must be a maximum of 250 words and follow the outlined instructions found here.

Workshop proposals should be submitted in word format via email to tropicalmedicine2016@arinex.com.au as soon as possible. Notifications of acceptance to run a workshop will be distributed by Monday 19 October 2015
